Tesda hounded by debts
Saturday, 07 August 2010
The well had already gone dry but still the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) promised to provide P1 billion worth of technical and vocational scholarships to the unemployed across the country, burdening the agency with debts under a new President.

What’s more, newly appointed Tesda Director General Joel Villanueva said he had also received numerous reports that the Pangulong Gloria Scholarship (PGS) went to fly-by-night schools and ghost scholars.

“This is not our obligation,” Villanueva told the Inquirer Friday. “In the first place, it’s not part of the budget allocated for us. It’s not even appropriated in the General Appropriations Act.”

‘Di lang si Gloria ang dapat ikulong
Tuesday, 29 June 2010

Probe oil firms

Probe oil firms

“President Aquino has the strong mandate to do what he can do according to the law.  Knowing President-elect Noy, he will not think twice if opening these books would be necessary and appropriate and most importantly if it will bring back economic confidence,” said [CIBAC party list Rep. Joel] Villanueva.

THREE party-list lawmakers yesterday asked President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to press the opening of books of oil companies, especially the so-called big Three, to determine if their price adjustments have been reasonable and have not been bleeding the public through price manipulation or cartelization.

Citizens Battle Against Corruption Rep.  Joel Villanueva, Bayan Muna Reps.  Neri Colmenares and Satur Ocampo said President-elect Aquino would do great service to the public if he would ask his legal team to prioritize working for the opening of the books of oil firms.

On new power hike plan

"Let us oppose any move that would further aggravate the poor living condition of our people. It is saddening that ERC and electric distributors like Meralco are pushing all of us against the wall very hard." (Rep. Joel Villanueva)
