Today, we proclaim that we cannot stand quietly in the sidelines. Today we express our desires not to be but mere spectators in the business of nation building. Here, today, we declare our intentions to invest in “good governance” and be counted as stakeholders in the great plan to re-build the Philippine nation. With Party-list Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) in the lead, we are engaging ourselves as informed stakeholders with the objective to wage a war against corruption by promoting good governance and making accountability real in the government. The trials are great for CIBAC because this administration is making public service difficult. Instead of encouraging CIBAC to continue its good work because the Filipinos deserve good governance, this administration is even contributing to the many challenges we face. Instead of supporting CIBAC’s legitimate programs of funding the education of our scholars, of encouraging our citizens to engage in entrepreneurship, of helping the local government units in its fight against malnutrition, this administration, like no other, has worked even harder to make sure CIBAC does not get its Constitutional entitlement to be able to fund its programs. So while other political parties ask for support so they, in turn, can have access to the national coffers to be able to do public service, CIBAC, today, calls on the people to become “investors in good governance”. Today is the day for the silent and ordinary investors of this country whose only desire is to see a better government for the Philippines. To invest would either be the traditional way of pledging support for CIBAC or simply to be heard and to be counted because only an involved citizenry can have a real shot at good governance. Today, we ask for support so that CIBAC can continue its fight against corruption even if many unseen hands in the administration are working harder than ever to deny the constituents of CIBAC their Constitutional rights. The battle is tough but if we invest in the fight against corruption, not only can this malaise be minimized but we can be assured that the sentiments of many of us Filipinos, particularly the poor and the under-represented, will be heard and considered in decision-making. VOTE CIBAC for PARTY-LIST! |
